EnGenius DuraFon Pro Helps Increase Customer Service for Thriving Garden Nursery
I sell business communications system and I have a customer that has tried several cordless phone solutions in their business environment. This business is a thriving Nursery and Garden Supply with multiple locations. Most all of their employees carry two-way radios and communication is real-time all day long throughout the property.
The challenge is all of their communications come "live" and out loud through the walkie-talkies, so customers hear all of these conversations going on all through the property. The other challenge is that the business owner desires to have connections made for their calling customers to the employees on the property, so currently they receive a call on their Walkie and have to walk into the building to retrieve the call - which makes the calling customer wait on hold a good long while.
We walked onto the property with our EnGenius DuraFon Pro Demo kit and met the owner walking into the building. The General Manager of that location met us at the front door and asked what we were here onsite for and the Owner told him that we were going to test another cordless phone. The General Manager lost his smile and rolled his eyes and said, "oh... ok" as if to say .oh, here we go again.. Not only is this a large property, but the construction of the building where the registers and offices reside is made with a metal roof and concrete walls.
I confidently plugged the DuraFon base into a borrowed fax line and turned on the handsets. I handed one of the DuraFons to the IT Manager and took the other in my hand and started walking out to the parking lot. The IT Manager looked at me with curious eyes and asked where I was going. I smiled at her and politely said that I would call her from down the street. The parking lot extends out about 200 yards from the building to the sidewalk, so I called the IT Manager from the end of the lot and kept walking. She was still in the building and was amazed at the quality. I kept walking down the street until I was two businesses away (about 400 yards away) from her. She was fascinated that I could be so far from her and still maintain the call. Now this call was DuraFon to DuraFon, so I asked her to make a call to me on the phone line so the call would go through the base to my DuraFon handset. Of course, the quality of that call was even better, so she gave the phone to the Owner. He was convinced he would find a part of the property where we would lose the call, so he put the DuraFon through its paces as well.
The Owner was able to walk to any part of their large lot .including walking down into a concrete pit", and the DuraFon held the call with great quality. After about 10 minutes, he walked back into the building with the DuraFon in hand and said, "Well done, I'm convinced." You've done it!"
I was proposing full IP phone systems with 80 IP phones across 4 sites for this customer and the Owner said that the entire project hedged on whether or not our "cordless phone" solution would stand up. Clearly, the DuraFon withstood the Owner's intense scrutiny and helped us bring in the deal. Not only did we secure the deal for the phone systems in all sites, but the Owner increased the number of DuraFons for their new store from 8 to 40 and will start phasing out the Walkies they have currently in similar numbers at the other stores and replace them with DuraFons as needed. I told the Owner it is likely that once the other employees find out how good these DuraFons are, that he may need to think about replacing the other Walkies sooner, rather than later. He agreed and said he would take that under advisement.
