Cirque du Soleil's "O" Show & EnGenius ECB3500

EnGenius Technologies’ ECB3500, a high-powered, Super G wireless access point, is set to premier in the entertainment industry.

EnGenius Technologies, Inc. announced the use of their long-range business class, wireless access point in dynamic new venue - Cirque du Soleil’s “O” Show.   The ECB3500 long-range wireless access point will be used to expand wireless communication between lighting technicians within the theatrical venue.

“We see this as a merging of art and science; where our technology can serve to enhance the theatrical experience.   Because we engineered our wireless products to be highly adaptable within a multitude of corporate environments, the application of the ECB3500 to the theater was not difficult. ,” remarks Roger Chien, Product Manager of EnGenius Technologies.

EnGenius recommended the ECB3500 wireless access point primarily for its high power and long-range wifi capabilities. The device can operate at 600MW of wireless power allowing it to overcome extremely long distances.   In fact, it was originally designed to send a strong, clear, unbroken wireless signal between office spaces and, even, office buildings.   In the case of Cirque du Soleil, the ECB3500 will be able to effectively extend their wireless network to all areas of the Bellagio Theater, eliminating any dead spots that might have previously existed.

In addition, the ECB3500 wireless access point is able to handle and negotiate high volumes of data. It uses the Super G - 108Mpbs wireless standard and QOS (Quality of Service) to manage high payloads with ease.   In the middle of any theatrical performance, technicians cannot afford to experience communication delays due to a bottle neck within their wireless network.   The ECB3500 offers the assurance that, even under pressure, their data and communications will be processed in the most efficient of manner.

“The power and range of our ECB3500 make it a very good choice for dynamic environments like live theater.   And, some its other features, such as Power-Over-Ethernet, make it adaptable enough to fit into the unique backstage setting,” notes Roger Chien. The ECB3500 is able to receive its electrical power over the Ethernet cable.   This simplifies the installation process; a key feature in a location where power outlets and network jacks are at a premium.

Other ECB3500 key features include:

  • Dual High-Grain Detachable Antennas – increases sensitivity with diversity technology.
  • Multiple Wireless Names – permits different access levels within one wireless network.
  • Multi-Functional Device (7 modes of use) – performs multiple uses for different network topologies.
  • Intelligent Quality of Service (QoS) Technology – orders bandwidth priority for high-demand transmissions.

At this time, the lighting crew of Cirque du Soleil’s “O” show at the Bellagio Theater in Las Vegas will be using ECB3500 wireless access points to expand their wireless network, providing them with efficient and reliable wireless communication.   And, EnGenius Technologies, long-range wireless leader, has demonstrated that their wireless networking devices, such as the ECB3500, can effectively handle not only the conventional business wireless networking topographies but can also meet the demands and adapt to the unpredictability of live theater.
