EnSky On-Premises: Harris Hotel replaces old system with hundreds of Wi-Fi 6-grade access points to solve the poor Wi-Fi performance throughout its facility.

The Harris Hotel and Convention Center is located in the heart of North Jakarta’s Kelapa Gading business district and is a popular choice for business and leisure travelers to the Indonesian capital. The property consists of 295 rooms and twelve luxury suites covering almost 1,000 square feet. The hotel itself is connected to a bustling shopping center with stores, restaurants, and theaters.

The Need

The hotel had poor wireless throughput due to low Wi-Fi signal and dead spots throughout the property. The frustratingly poor Wi-Fi performance was caused primarily by the incorrect and inadequate placement of access points.

Management wanted each of the 307 units installed with access points to provide seamless in-room guest Wi-Fi. They also wanted a network controller for remote monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting.

The Solution

The ideal solution provided a well-planned deployment of EnGenius indoor access points and controller switches run via the EnGenius license-free ezMaster network management system.

Specifically, the solution included the following wireless access points and network switches:

  • EWS357AP 802.11ax 2×2 managed wireless indoor access point – 21 units
  • EWS7952FP 48-port managed gigabit 740w PoE+ network switch – 8 units
  • EWS1200-28TFP 24-port managed gigabit 410w PoE+ network switch – 1 unit

  • The Result

    The full installation was an ambitious project for one of Jakarta’s world-class hotels. The end result was thorough future-proof coverage in every single guest room and all public areas of the hotel. In addition, the hotel IT staff could achieve complete network visibility using the ezMaster network management system, which allows for the configuration and maintenance of multiple customer sites and thousands of devices.

    Real-time monitoring and analytics allow staff to address problems immediately without affecting end users while maintaining sufficient flexibility for the network to grow and scale according to the hotel’s needs.
