18th Century Italian Residential Village Gets an Architectural and Technological Upgrade - Reggio Emilia, Italy

EnSky EWS550AP & ezMaster: The Pieve Rossa delivers major Wi-Fi upgrade for the growing number of professional residents living in its tenements.

Built originally in the late 1700s, the Pieve Rossa apartment complex in Reggio Emilia, Italy has recently enjoyed a complete renovation designed to create bright and welcoming spaces for guests and to harmonize the property with its natural surroundings with wood and soft-colored fabrics in each housing unit.

The complex consists of 15 apartments distributed among 4 units. Pieve Rossa mainly hosts professionals who are looking for comfort and quality, as well as fast, reliable connection services.

The Need

Initially, an Ethernet network was created with 17 access points distributed across the property. Initially, the service provided adequate Wi-Fi to guests and staff. Over time, the network became overloaded as coverage diminished and connection quality disappeared.

The traditional ADSL line was connected to several routers that were spaced inefficiently, resulting in a broken availability of services and conflicts between stations.

“Since the installation of the new system we have had no more problems and our best expectations have been met from the initial phase of the work for which no ducts or movements of any kind were necessary.”

The Solution

“The need for an internet connection has marked the evolution of our customers, who in over 14 years of activity have radically changed their habits,” explained Camilla Lusuardi, head of Residenza Pieve Rossa.

Pieve Rossa turned to SEIT Contractors to find a definitive solution that would guarantee its customers uncompromising connectivity.

“When we turned to SEIT, our need was to find an optimal solution for a reasonable investment. The proposal we received was absolutely in line with our expectations,” added Lusardi.

In addition to its overloaded, outdated network, the Pieve Rossa buildings had thick walls that Wi-Fi signals could not penetrate. The goal was to provide optimal coverage with a streamlined solution.

“When we prepared our offer for Pieve Rossa for optimal coverage,” said Silvestro Ascione, SEIT’s sales manager, “we also had to be able to reduce the number of APs and any duct work as much as possible, while at the same time optimizing their power.”

SEIT ultimately settled on a suite of EWS550AP access points and the ezMaster network management application. ezMaster enabled SEIT to optimize the quality of Pieve Rossa’s Wi-Fi network coverage by regulating the power of individual access points.

The Result

EnGenius has proved to be the most suitable partner in this area because its support includes a family of tools in the cloud that allow users to simplify the design and administration of the network.

The power of the EWS550AP access points has kept the number of units needed to a minimum. Their transmission is 360° and consequently their range is wider than that of products radiating at 180°.

A few months after the completion of the network upgrade work, Lusuardi said, “Since the installation of the new system we have had no more problems and our best expectations have been met from the initial phase of the work for which no ducts or movements of any kind were necessary.”

“Everything was simple and effective,” she said.
